I am asked this question a lot, actually. Some people even tell me that if I am going to ask them to stop drinking coffee, they won't seek out homeopathic care.
It's true that Samuel Hahnemann, when he wrote out the original tenants of Homeopathy, was very particular about the lifestyle and dietary requirements necessary. He felt strongly that things like camphor, certain foods and damp living conditions impacted people's health and the efficacy of homeopathic remedies in a serious way.
In some cases, this is still true but in most cases, including drinking coffee, it just isn't. If we consider life around the time of Hahnemann's first edition of the Organon of the Medical Art in 1810, it was quite different than our lives today. In terms of what may or may not impact our health, there was much less stimulus back then. Consider no phones, social media, radio, fluorescent lights or WiFi.
Coming into contact with Camphor must have been a trip for the senses! But now, we are literaly inundated in our homes and our world with all of those things and more. The constant noise of cars, airplanes, entertainment, social media, WiFi, cell towers, etc impacts our nervous systems more than we currently understand. So in many ways, we are not as stimulated because we live in the space of constant stimulation.
So for us, coffee is not nearly as impactful as it was for patients of Hahnemann who had a much different environment.
Long story short, YES you can have your coffee and your homeopathic remedy too. (Preferably not at the same time!)
Happy International Coffee Day!
